FOLEY
Matching Sounds to Picture

Often during a shoot, the production audio can’t pick up a number of the subtle sounds that can really make a scene feel intimate. Likewise, certain sounds on a set may not have the dynamic impact needed to convince an audience.

Foley allows for very close-microphone recordings of even the slightest of sounds; the rustling of clothes, the squeak of a chair, even the sound of a razor-blade tugging against stubble.

On the other end of the extreme, with highly amplified sounds Foley can provide the heightened tension that makes a scene feel larger than life.

So whether your main character is hit over the head with a glass bottle, stuck between two giant oily balloons or better yet falls over backwards into some trash cans because the guard dog in their way is licking his slobbery chops... you want your audience to feel it.
